international-organization-for standardization

On October 9, Mercado Eletrônico has undergone another audit, and retained its ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001:2013 certifications. Both of them attest information quality and security in all company processes, in order to deliver increasingly better products to customers.

ME, which is a technology company and Latin American leader in B2B e-commerce solutions, works with a variety of data that require constant protection. Besides, offering quality products that optimize the daily lives of buyers and sellers is our mission. Therefore, the achievement of these certifications attests to customers the quality of processes and the security and protection of data that are conveyed throughout the company.

All employees are skilled and committed to offer the best products to customers, and also to apply the information security policy, which is very strict.

“The audits proved and we have been certified for the quality of processes and the security of data that we offer to our customers. We have always been very concerned with information quality and security, even because it’s our core function. These ISO standards certify that we are meeting all requirements to protect the company and offer the best to our customers”, said Marcelo Beccari, IT Director at Mercado Eletrônico.

What is the ISO 27001:2013?

ISO 27001:2013 is an international standard created by the International Standardization Organization (ISO), and indicates how to manage information security in an organization. Its most recent version was released in 2013.

This standard can be implemented in any kind of (for-profit or nonprofit) company, and has the purpose of protecting confidentiality, integrity and availability of a company’s information. It has been created by the world’s best experts in the information security field, and provides the right methodology to implement data security management in an organization.

Implementing these standards in a company allows it to be certified by a certifying entity, in accordance with ISO 27001.

What is the ISO 9001:2015?

ISO 9001 is a globally recognized standard that certifies the Quality Management System (QMS), and defines the requirements (standardization tools) to implement such system in an organization. The goal behind this ISO standard is to make the customer confident that the products and services offered by the company follow the quality standards stipulated by the regulatory entity.

In 2015, the structure of the ISO 9001 sections was changed, in order to refine the alignment with other management system standards, and adopt a standard for process creation and review. To achieve this ISO certification, the company must prove the use of best practices and requirements to manage processes, products and services with a focus on customer satisfaction.
